Soldiers are not the only ones fighting bitterly against Russian troops in Ukraine. Other warriors also play an important role.
It’s a secret war at the front and behind enemy lines: In the Ukraine war, the so-called partisans influence the war and its course. They are considered as armed resistance fighters who do not belong to the regular armed forces.
The Ukrainian city of Melitopol has been under occupation for months. Its mayor, Ivan Fedorov, was kidnapped by Kremlin troops after the outbreak of war and released in a prisoner exchange. Of the partisans, Fedorov spoke of “a gift to our secret services and soldiers” – but also of the extreme dangers and torture methods used by the Russian army.
Mayor and harsh footage filmed behind the battle lines reveal how Ukraine works with partisans – and how “shadow warriors” can help decide battles. You can see what the partisans have already achieved and how they exposed Russian troops in Ukraine here – or in the video above.
