Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak are said to have spoken. Both are considered promising candidates for the post of British Prime Minister.
Two potential contenders to succeed outgoing British Prime Minister Liz Truss, Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak, have met for talks, according to media reports. According to BBC and Sunday Times news, the former Prime Minister and the former Finance Minister met on Saturday evening.
Neither Johnson nor Sunak have officially announced their candidacy for the leadership of the Conservative Tory party and the post of Prime Minister. However, both are considered promising candidates in the race to succeed Truss. The media previously reported that Sunak and Johnson’s supporters were exploring the possibility of an amicable solution. Sunak has already turned 100 years old.
Then Prime Minister Johnson was forced to resign in early July due to a rebellion in his own ranks. His turbulent tenure was marred by numerous scandals. Former Treasury Secretary Sunak is considered a “kingslayer” by many of Johnson’s supporters for his role in his resignation.
