Handball: THW Kiel wins top game against Rhein-Neckar Löwen

The foxes Berlin took advantage of the moment and conquered the top of the table in the handball Bundesliga. The team from the capital won a tricky away game at DHfK Leipzig on Sunday with 31:26 (12:11) and is now at the top – because the top game shortly before went in the interest of the foxes.

The lead kept changing until half-time, after the break the foxes then defended their lead throughout. Hans Lindberg, Mijajlo Marsenic and Jacob Holm formed an accurate trio with seven goals each.

Eric Johansson was the most successful thrower for Kiel with nine goals. Circle player Patrick Wiencek, whose early contract extension until 2025 had been announced by THW, scored five times. Former international Uwe Gensheimer scored seven goals for the lions.

The two top teams fought a largely even duel. Only in the final phase did Kiel break away decisively, leading by four goals at 30:26 and 32:28 and never letting the lead go away.
