Robin Gosens after the World Cup: “A lifelong dream has burst”

Robin Gosens reacted with disappointment to his non-nomination for the World Cup in Qatar.

“A lifelong dream has burst for me, it hurts,” said the 28-year-old from Inter Milan to the Rheinische Post, but also said: “Of course I can understand Hansi Flick’s motives.”

National coach Flick justified his decision with Gosen’s lack of match practice. But he is not thinking of saying goodbye to Inter. “Of course I want to play in the Bundesliga at some point. But my goal is to assert myself at Inter,” said Gosens: “I have the feeling that I haven’t arrived yet. In daily training I see that I have the level to break through at a top club like Inter.”

The winger scored his first league goal for Inter in Wednesday’s 6-1 win over Bologna. On Sunday he plays against Atalanta Bergamo – the team he spent four years with.
