Bitter setback for Marco Reus. The offensive star of Borussia Dortmund has to withdraw from the World Cup due to persistent ankle problems. This was announced by national coach Hansi Flick at the press conference for the squad nomination and thus confirmed the corresponding media reports in advance.
“I wish there were nicer news that I could share with you, but unfortunately it can’t be changed. And I and everyone else have to accept that. Unfortunately, a big dream of mine has burst,” Reus wrote on Instagram.

Marco Reus is also not available for BVB in the last game before the World Cup break against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Friday (8:30 p.m.).
