Juventus Turin is apparently planning a return campaign for Antonio Conte

Juventus Turin is currently going through a serious crisis. Is an old acquaintance leading the club back on the road to success?

After a season that has been completely frustrating so far, Juventus Turin is apparently planning a return campaign for former successful coach Antonio Conte. As the Gazzetta dello Sport reported, Conte is set to replace the hapless Massimiliano Allegri next summer if Juve remain without a title this season.

The 53-year-old Conte’s contract at Tottenham Hotspur expires in 2023, according to the report, the Italian is aware of the chance to return to Juve, which is why there have been no talks with Spurs officials about a contract extension.

Meanwhile, Allegri still has a contract until 2025, but there are said to be growing doubts in Juve management that he is the right coach. The 55-year-old returned to the old lady’s coaching bench in the summer of 2021 after a two-year break, but Juventus is currently a long way from the old successes of his first term with the Bianconeri (2014 to 2019).

Juventus Turin: Blamable season under Allegri

Last season, Juve struggled to qualify for the Champions League and had no chance against the two Milan clubs in the Serie A title fight. In the current season, the premature end in the premier class is already certain before the last day of the group phase. The low point was a 0-2 defeat at Maccabi Haifa. Things aren’t going any better in the domestic league either, after eleven matchdays Juve are only in eighth place and are already ten points behind leaders Napoli.

Conte, in turn, had trained the Italian record champions from 2011 to 2014 and thus directly before Allegri’s first term. During this period, Conte won the Scudetto in all three seasons and laid the foundation for the club’s rise to fame, which would then lead to two Champions League finals under Allegri. After leaving Turin, Conte successfully coached Chelsea and Inter Milan before moving to Tottenham in 2021.
