Nagelsmann on Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting:

“He’s fit. He doesn’t have any ailments, he often had problems. He’s coping well at the moment. He’s doing well and has a high level of acceptance in the team. Sometimes life rewards you when you’re a good guy. He has a very good character and always gives it his all. I think he will continue to do well, even against his former club tomorrow.”

Nagelsmann on the injured Lucas Hernández:

“We need him, also because of the pressure. Benji Pavard is also doing well as a central defender, we can compensate well. With us you don’t have a second to switch off as a defender. Hopefully he will come back on Monday. I assume so that he can still play a game in the Bundesliga and be able to play at the World Cup. The rehab is going well, he has no problems.”

Nagelsmann on Serge Gnabry:

“I’ve known Serge and his adjustments for ages. He thinks a lot when he’s substituted. You always have to pick him up and explain things to him. As a player, you sometimes have a different impression. We had two or three good conversations . His commitment and his offensive actions were great. He is an exceptional footballer with exceptional quality. He worked on himself and you saw the result on Wednesday. His commitment was there until the last minute. His positional loyalty is now very good again.”

Nagelsmann on the defensive:

“We’ve moved closer together. The lads are doing exceptionally well. Against Barcelona it was a big step, also in deep defence. It’s also a learning process for me. I can still learn there, I’m more of a hektomat on the sidelines. Me I’m also rather nervous when the opponent is in our half. We made a step in Barcelona that we can endure it and have the necessary patience.”

Nagelsmann about Sven Ulreich:

“Ulle knows his role. He is outstanding, very good at football, with a lot of courage in the opening. He has a good presence and good ideas for playing in midfield. He kept a clean sheet against Hoffenheim and Barcelona. Manu is the best goalkeeper in the world, but the boys also have a lot of trust in Ulle. We’re very happy that we have him. He’s a very good guy who lives up to his role. He doesn’t need any warm-up time to get excited. “

Nagelsmann on the game against Mainz:

“We played two bad games against Mainz last season. The table constellation alone motivates us a lot.”

Nagelsmann on the state of the team:

“The team is in a good flow, they get along well together. Against Barcelona it seemed like there was a swarm on the pitch, marching in the same direction. The team gets along great with each other. For example, when you look at the posts in the Plane for Dayot Upamecano’s birthday.”

Nagelsmann about Manuel Neuer:

“He’s still out. It’s not a structural injury. I’m not a clairvoyant. It was a bit too early against Dortmund. We’re looking forward to next weekend. His training yesterday was good, and things are going well in the weight room. He’s out for Inter “Normally, everyone except Thomas Muller, who played in the Champions League, is fit tomorrow. I want him to come back quickly. We can’t look inside his body. The shoulder is a complicated joint, it needs rest. I’m not going away I assume he won’t be able to play the World Cup. We’ll do everything we can to make that happen, but I don’t know. If he’s still in pain in five weeks, then he won’t play it.”

Nagelsmann about Thomas Müller:

“He’s got an irritation in his hip again, in his pelvic area. He won’t be able to play, probably not even on Tuesday. We’ll probably have to take him out for a week to give him a rest. But it’s not a structural injury. We have put us together this morning. Painkillers don’t help either. It blocks and stings a bit. He’s actually in a good mood. His structure is just a bit irritated. In the end I have to make the decision whether he sits on the bench . But I’ve decided to take him out. We have to calm him down now and then test when he’s resilient again.”

Before start: Nagelsmann may also give an update on Manuel Neuer, who is still injured in the shoulder.
