Loose rope camera cable causes interruption in Gladbach

A loose cable from the cable camera hanging over the lawn caused a strange game interruption in the Bundesliga game between Borussia Mönchengladbach and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Because the rope was hanging down, referee referee Daniel Siebert (Berlin) had to interrupt the match for about seven minutes in the 77th minute. Only when the camera had been completely dismantled could the game continue.

For Gladbach, the interruption probably came at the worst possible time, at least that’s what midfielder Julian Weigl thought. “Of course it’s a bit unfortunate that we then score the goal, the stadium trembles and then this interruption comes,” said the 27-year-old sky. “That took the momentum out a bit. But that wasn’t the reason why we lost here today.”

Weigl’s coach Daniel Farke was also dissatisfied: “It’s a shame that there was a break and the momentum was a bit gone. Frankfurt had time to sort itself out again. A lot went against us today.” Farke also complained about the stoppage time after the game, which he felt was too short at nine minutes given the long break.

Eintracht Frankfurt won 3-1 in Gladbach and moved up to fourth place in the table. Borussia is ninth after just one win from the past four games.
