According to a report by the Kurier, the video assistant referee does not work reliably in the Reichshofstadion of Bundesliga promoted Austria Lustenau. An offside line could not be drawn for disputed goals.
If the sun shines in the Lustenau Reichhofsstadion, the referees have a problem. Sounds strange and amateurish, but it’s the reality.
Again courier reported on Saturday, the video assistant referee was unable to draw an offside line on several disputed goals. The reasons: Poorly positioned TV cameras and low sun.
“Yes, we had problems with the VAR offside line in Lustenau. There are several reasons. Everyone involved is working on the best possible solution,” says David Reisenauer, league board member for game operations.
The specific problem: In Lustenau, the Hawk Eye, which is supposed to use calibrated lines to resolve offside positions from TV images with the help of artificial intelligence, cannot be optimally positioned.
At least three controversial scenes were not resolved. “Especially in summer and in strong sunshine, there are problems drawing lines that are actually calibrated,” said Reisenauer.
The problem should be solved during the winter break.
