U17s after beating Brazil in the World Cup semifinals

The German U17 juniors have reached the semi-finals of the World Cup in India despite several Corona failures. The European champions defeated Brazil 2-0 (1-0) in Navi Mumbai and can dream of reaching the World Cup final for the first time.

The team was looked after by Melanie Behringer. The 2007 world champion represented DFB trainer Friederike Kromp, who, like goalkeeper Eve Boettcher and Alara Sehitler, had tested positive for Corona.

Marie Steiner (23rd) and substitute Melanie Kr├╝ger (90th + 5) scored for the German team, which had won all three games in the preliminary round. In the battle for the final, either defending champions Spain or Japan await in Margao on Wednesday, both of which meet on Saturday.

At the World Cup four years ago, Germany lost to Canada (0-1) in the quarter-finals. A German U17 has never made it into a World Cup final, both in 2008 (1:2 against the USA) and 2012 (1:2 against South Korea) they came to the end of the semifinals.
