For the 50th anniversary of the Olympic Stadium, the two traditional Munich clubs Bayern and 1860 are organizing a legends benefit game. All information about the date, time, place, the participants and the broadcast on TV and live stream can be found here.
The year is 1972. After three long years of construction, the city of Munich opened one of its long-awaited prestige projects: the Olympic Stadium. It was built, as the name suggests, on the occasion of the Summer Olympics, which were to take place in Munich in 1972.
In the decades that followed, however, it was football in particular that left its mark on the park; For a long time, the stadium served as a home ground for both Bayern and city competitor 1860. So it’s certainly no coincidence that those two traditional Munich clubs are allowed to celebrate their anniversary 50 years later.
However, the two clubs are not represented by active players, but by a selection of legends consisting of former players. At Bayern, Giovane Élber will take on the role of captain, while the lions will be led by Benny Lauth.
