Mats Hummels with social media criticism of teammates

Here you come to yesterday’s BVB news and rumours.

BVB, News: Hummels criticizes Dortmund stars after bankruptcy

BVB defender Mats Hummels has called on his Dortmund teammates after the recent bankruptcy against Union Berlin (0: 2). “We can see at 2-0 in which areas risk is appropriate and when not. When to send and when not,” criticized the 33-year-old. “Sometimes the simple 20-yard back pass is better, even if it doesn’t come out on social media afterwards.”

Dortmund would have to get away from the fact that “football has to be sexy,” Hummels said after the 1-1 draw against Sevilla in the Champions League. “Successful football isn’t about heels, spikes, one, two, three from five yards, it’s about a player always doing the right thing and not just doing something special sometimes.”

When asked about Hummels’ criticism, however, striker Karim Adeyemi waved it off. BVB does not play football that is too ornate. “I wouldn’t say that now. We played a different formation today, maybe that’s why.”

BVB, News: Dortmund loses top game against Union

Borussia Dortmund suffered another setback in the fight for the German championship. Versus Union Berlin lost 0:2 (0:2) to the team coached by Edin Terzic. This means that the black and yellow continue to lose touch with the top positions. On the FCU there are already seven points after ten matchdays.

Janik Haberer scored the goals for Union Berlin, first after a mistake by BVB keeper Gregor Kobel (8th), then with a brilliant long-range shot (21st).

“The alarm bell must ring for us,” said Niklas Süle in the mixed zone. “We can’t go on like this! We don’t go by name. We have great footballers, but we make it too difficult for ourselves. We have to analyze it hard.”

BVB, News: Edin Terzic praises Union Berlin

Borussia Dortmund coach Edin Terzic showered Bundesliga leaders Union Berlin with praise after the 2-0 (0-2) defeat in a direct duel. “They’re at the top of the table because they’re doing really well. You have to give them a huge compliment,” said the 39-year-old.

“First and foremost, that’s what makes top teams,” said Terzic about the strengths of the Irons, who were more consistent in the decisive actions and, as so often this season, had dominated the game over their physique. It is a “very mature, closed style of play,” explained the coach.

Coach Urs Fischer’s team does not “possess the ball, but they don’t leave their teammates alone,” said Terzic, who warned after three league games without a win in a row and eighth place: “Of course we’re not where we want to be. We’re not happy with the situation.”
