FC Barcelona lost 3-1 away to Real Madrid in El Clásico. After the final whistle, the Barça boss gained access to the referee’s cabin and demanded explanations.
“After the game, Joan Laporta broke into the referee’s dressing room and repeatedly asked for explanations for decisions made during the game,” chief referee José Sánchez Martinez said.
In the Spanish media, it is believed that Laporta was particularly angry with the referees about one scene: Real Madrid full-back Dani Carvajal allegedly fouled Barça striker Robert Lewandowski in the penalty area. The Barça boss would have liked to see a penalty.
After the summer’s significant investments in the transfer market, the Catalans are doomed to win. After the 3-3 draw in the Champions League during the week against Inter Milan, Barcelona are in the premier class before the end.
The defeat in Madrid, the first defeat of the season, saw the Catalans lose the top spot to unloved rivals Real.
