Behavior of Robert Lewandowski “almost blackmailing”

At FC Bayern’s annual general meeting, member Dieter Marx stood at the lectern and harshly criticized Robert Lewandowski for his behavior surrounding his move to FC Barcelona.

“This summer theater – quote ‘FC Bayern is history’ – that’s not how you say goodbye to the club,” said Marx: “The behavior was almost blackmailing. What kind of character is that?”

Such a player should “not get a farewell game after the end of his career. He should also be denied admission to the Hall of Fame in the Bayern Museum,” demanded Marx, which the majority in the Audi Dome took note of with disapproval.

CEO Oliver Kahn, for example, sees things differently. “Robert was a goal machine. He scored as he wanted. He was German champion eight times and top scorer six times,” said the 53-year-old.

And Kahn continues: “You can understand that he wanted to change again when he was almost 34 years old. After a lot of back and forth and after we had agreed with FC Barcelona on the transfer fee we were asking for, we approved the transfer. I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank a very, very great player for his great achievements and for everything he has done for FC Bayern.”
