In the Youth League game of BVB against FC Sevilla (2-0), Dortmund youngster Abdoulaye Kamara was again the victim of racist insults. UEFA is said to have previously banned a solidarity banner from some BVB fans.
Like the BVB fanzine schwatzgelb.de reported, supporters of Kamara from “ballspiel.vereint” (BVB fans’ initiative against discrimination) wanted to go into the stadium with a banner that said: “Solidarity with Karama! Contra El Racismo!”
However, UEFA is said to have banned this banner. Kamara was ultimately racially insulted again after similar incidents had occurred in the first leg.
There was no support from the referees. “I couldn’t believe it, but a UEFA official actually started discussing what a monkey sounds like and what a monkey says with me. It was unbelievable,” said BVB coach Mike Tullberg.
