VfB Stuttgart has apparently put out feelers to Champions League winner Zsolt Löw when looking for a new coach. A report by the pay TV station sky According to the report, the Swabians are said to have had initial talks with Thomas Tuchel’s assistant during his time at Chelsea.
VfB, who are still without a win after nine league games, are looking for a successor to Pellegrino Matarazzo, who was sacked on Monday. The new man is said to be on the bench in the basement duel of the penultimate table on Saturday (3.30 p.m. in the live ticker) with bottom VfL Bochum.
After ten years as an assistant, Löw (43) is keen to take on the chief role. The Hungarian had assisted various coaches at FC Liefering, in Salzburg and Leipzig before he went to Paris St. Germain with Tuchel in 2018. There the duo won two championships and one cup. At the beginning of 2021, both signed on at Chelsea and won the premier class.
Löw was traded at VfB during the 2019/2020 winter break, but those responsible decided on Matarazzo at the time. As a professional, Löw was active for Cottbus, Rostock, Hoffenheim under coach Ralf Rangnick and Mainz under Tuchel.
