Eintracht Frankfurt gets away with a suspended sentence after riots

After the serious riots in the European Cup, Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt got away with fines and suspended sentences in the Champions League. 1. FC Köln, on the other hand, will have to play their next two away games in the Conference League without fans traveling with them.

After the riots in the 1-0 win at Olympique Marseille on September 13, the European Football Union (UEFA) imposed an away ban on Hessen’s next guest game and a partial ban on at least 1,000 spectator seats at the next home game, but put both penalties on for a year parole.

Eintracht has to pay a fine totaling 45,000 euros and reimburse the damage caused by their own fans at the stadium in Marseille.

Cologne are hit harder after the clashes in the 1-1 draw at OGC Nice on September 8th. FC is not allowed to sell tickets to its fans for the next two away games, and UEFA has also fined the Bundesliga side 100,000 euros. Marseille and Nice each have to play their next home game behind closed doors.
