After the cancellation of Dortmund’s Marco Reus due to injury, national coach Hansi Flick nominated the versatile Benjamin Henrichs from DFB Cup winner RB Leipzig for the Nations League games against Hungary next Friday in Leipzig and three days later at London’s Wembley Stadium against England. The DFB announced this via Twitter.
The 48-time national player Reus (33) twisted his ankle badly in the derby against Schalke 04 (1-0) on Saturday.
According to BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl, the offensive player will have to take a three to four week break due to an injury to the lateral ligament.
Henrichs (25), who is mainly used on the defensive flanks, has played seven international matches so far. Most recently, he played for the national team in a 1-1 draw in Italy in early June.
