FC Bayern, News: Lewandowski thanks the fans
Robert Lewandowski has commented on his return to Munich. “I’m very grateful to the fans in Munich for the way they welcomed me,” said the 34-year-old picture: “It was respectful, nice and important to me. I was in Munich for eight years, not two or three. You can’t throw it away or forget it.”
Lewandowski returned to his old employer on Tuesday in the Champions League with FC Barcelona for the first time after moving in the summer. The Catalans lost 2-0, but the Polish striker missed a number of good chances.
FC Bayern, News: Surprising statements from Mazraoui
For Noussair Mazraoui, the time so far at FC Bayern has been rather bumpy in terms of sport. The new signing from Ajax Amsterdam has played in six competitive games so far, but was only allowed to play the full distance in the DFB Cup at Viktoria Köln. Overall, the 24-year-old right-back was only on the pitch for 264 out of a possible 900 minutes.
The Moroccan national player does not rate his start in Munich as complicated. “After two good games against VfB Stuttgart and Barcelona, it’s perhaps too early to say,” Mazraoui told Bayern Munich AZ: “But I think it was a very good start for me at Bayern. I want to continue like this.”
He came on for the injured Benjamin Pavard in the 21st minute of the Barca win and put on a strong performance. “I came in cold for Pavard and didn’t have time to warm up beforehand. Then you have to be there immediately, which is difficult,” said the Dutchman.
Mazraoui will be in the starting XI for the Bundesliga game at FC Augsburg on Saturday. “He did an exceptionally good job. He now feels more confidence in himself. He will start and show what he’s capable of,” said coach Julian Nagelsmann at a press conference on Friday.
FC Bayern, News: Bad swatter for FCB II
FC Bayern’s second team suffered a 5-0 defeat at Wacker Burghausen on Friday evening in the fourth-tier Regionalliga Bayern. The team of coach Martin Demichelis played a strong first half and was unlucky 0:1 behind at the break.
Felix Bachschmid (16th) gave the hosts the lead, Bayern’s Desire Segbe (40th) missed a penalty just before the break. An own goal by Antonio Tikvic (48th) made the preliminary decision. Thomas Winkelbauer (70′), Edin Hyseni (79′) and Jerome Läubli (86′) made the debacle perfect.
It was Bayern II’s fourth defeat this season. From the first 12 games, the Munich team only got 16 points and thus occupy eighth place in the table.
