Ousmane Dembele back in France squad

Former Dortmund player Ousmane Dembele has been called up to the squad for the French national team after a year-long hiatus. Before the Nations League games of the world champions against Austria and Denmark next week, national coach Didier Deschamps brought Olivier Giroud (AC Milan) back into the squad alongside the FC Barcelona striker.

Attacker Randal Kolo Muani from Eintracht Frankfurt can look forward to his first nomination.

The 23-year-old is one of four Bundesliga players in the squad alongside Benjamin Pavard, Dayot Upamecano (both Bayern Munich) and Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig.

In addition, the French have to cope with some painful failures. Karim Benzema (Real Madrid) is injured, as is Juventus player Paul Pogba, who is in danger of missing the World Cup in Qatar after knee surgery. Munich-based Kingsley Coman and Lucas Hernandez are also absent due to injury.
