FC Barcelona binds top talent Gavi in the long term. The 18-year-old has signed a contract until 2026.
FC Barcelona has set another important course for the future. As the Catalans announced on Wednesday, one day after the defeat in the Champions League against FC Bayern, top talent Gavi extended his contract until the summer of 2026. The release clause for the jewel is one billion euros. Gavi’s original contract would have expired next year.
Due to his contract situation, the midfielder was also on the list of other major European clubs, with FC Bayern and Liverpool FC in particular being said to be interested. The contract extension dragged on for a long time due to the financial situation of FC Barcelona.
Gavi joined FC Barcelona when he was ten
Gavi switched to Barça’s “La Masia” at the age of ten and has since gone through all of the Catalans’ youth teams. About a year ago he made his professional debut under former coach Ronald Koeman.
Pablo Martín Páez Gavira, as the teenager is called by his full name, is considered, along with Pedri and Ansu Fati (both 19), to be the great hope for a bright future for the club.
