Robert Lewandowski at FC Barcelona: “Celebrated like a god”

Bernd Schuster commented on the hype surrounding Robert Lewandowski at FC Barcelona. “He is celebrated like a god,” said the “Blonde Engel” of the picture.

Since moving from FC Bayern to Spain, Lewandowski has also played very well there. The Polish striker scored nine goals in his first six competitive games.

“He’s celebrated because he shoots the team up in the first few games after two super difficult years,” explained Schuster, who also wore the Barca shirt between 1980 and 1988.

However, Lewandowski’s haul shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, said the 62-year-old: “He’ll hit goals all his life and score 40 goals again this year.”

Would Schuster have let the superstar go in Munich? Of course not! But: “There was no other way, Robert really wanted a new motivation. Bayern could have done somersaults.”

Schuster: FC Barcelona is dreaming again

Thanks to Lewandowski’s performance, Barca are already dreaming of winning the Champions League again, said Schuster. “It’s premature, but they’ve regained the connection to the top clubs that they had lost for a long time. With the purchase of Lewandowski and winger Raphinha, they’re a real threat up front again,” said the former German international.

On Tuesday evening, Lewandowski will meet his ex-colleagues again with Barca in Munich (9 p.m. in LIVETICKER).
