Four stars are expected to leave the club in January

FC Barcelona apparently wants to continue to thin out its squad and therefore probably want to give up four players in winter.

FC Barcelona apparently want to further thin out their squad in the upcoming transfer window in January in order to save on salary costs. Like the Spanish Sports reported, the Catalans should leave four players.

Midfielder Frenkie de Jong is still the number one emigration candidate. The 25-year-old Dutchman was supposed to be handed over in the summer, but he really wanted to stay at Barça himself and allegedly only left the club for Bayern Munich.

A move to Manchester United fell through, now De Jong commutes between the starting XI and the bench – not enough for one of the absolute top earners in the team, which is why a farewell to Barcelona is still the top priority for the club.

Barça: No future for Jordi Alba and Gerard Pique

With Jordi Alba and Gerard Piqué, two veterans are also allowed to look for a new club. Barça provided substitutes for the two oldies (33 and 35) in defensive positions in the summer with Marcos Alonso and Álex Balde as well as Andreas Christensen and Jules Koundé.

The fourth in the group is Memphis Depay, who was also about to leave in the summer – but in the end both a move to Juventus and Manchester United failed. Although the Catalans have already lost one striker in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Depay is still set to be handed over.
