“Nothing surprises me anymore”

Criticism for FC Barcelona from their own player! Jordi Alba is far from happy with the fact that he should be transferred.

FC Barcelona bought properly in the last transfer window. The likes of Robert Lewandowski and Jules Koundé have joined the Catalans despite a hefty debt load. In order to acquire the necessary small change so that these players could be registered, Barça used all means. So club legend Jordi Alba should be given to Inter Milan – but the player knew nothing about the transfer. Now there is criticism for that.

According to the Spanish Mundo Deportivo said the left-back at a sponsor event: “It doesn’t matter whether it would have been fair or not: it’s about the way I say my opinion to other people’s faces and expect them to do the same to me.” And he added: “I have nothing more to say about it, even if I would like to. In this business of football, nothing surprises me anymore.”

Barcelona upset the club’s legends

Alba has been playing for the Catalans for ten years now and has enjoyed great success with them. Barça don’t seem to care though, Alba isn’t the first veteran Barcelona has upset. For example, President Joan Laporta’s club still owes over 50 million euros in salaries to central defender Gerard Piqué.

From a sporting point of view, things are not going well for Jordi Alba. Almost his entire time with the Catalans he was set as a starter, now Alejandro Balde has taken his place at left-back. In three of five league games of the current season, Balde was given preference over Alba by coach Xavi. And most recently, Marcos Alonso from Chelsea came as another man for the defensive flank.
