FC Barcelona – Robert Lewandowski the celebrated hero after a record: “He is pure gold”

Robert Lewandowski scored a hat-trick in FC Barcelona’s 5-1 Champions League win over Viktoria Pilsen. The Pole was then showered with praise from all sides.

“I’ll soon run out of praise for him,” said Barca coach Xavi: “He delivered a hat-trick, but it’s not just that. How he plays, finds the teammate, can read the space, his pressing. Me I’m just smitten with him.”

Lewandowski also made history with his three goals to make it 2-0 (34′), 3-1 (45’+3′) and 4-1 (67′). The striker has become the first player in La Liga history to score a hat-trick for three different clubs.

He managed this feat once in a Borussia Dortmund jersey, four times for Bayern Munich – and now for Barcelona. On top of that, the 34-year-old’s six Champions League hat-tricks means he’s just two away from drawing level with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. The Superstar duo tops the rankings with eight hat-tricks each.

“He gives us so many options in attack. He’s a leader, a winner, just an incredibly fantastic signing,” Xavi continued.

FC Barcelona: Lewandowski “is pure gold”

The Spanish press almost rolled over itself. “Historical, unique and hard to repeat,” wrote the Sports about the appearance of the striker.

“Who dared to claim that 50 million euros transfer fee was too much for Lewandowski? He’s a goal machine,” she cheered mark. And the Mundo Deportivo was: “Lewandowski is the top goalkeeper in the league and in the Champions League! The Pole is pure gold.”

Lewandowski: Return to Bayern

Lewy has made five competitive appearances for Barca since moving from Munich to Spain. He scored eight goals.

Next Tuesday (9 p.m. in the LIVETICKER), the two-time world footballer of the year in the Champions League is returning to his old place of work at FC Bayern for the first time with his new club.

“Robert Lewandowski is a world-class striker, no question about it. We’re all looking forward to seeing him again,” said Bayern’s Leon Goretzka: “But he can save himself the goals in the game.”
