Bundesliga export Rasmus Höjlund scored his debut goal for Atalanta Bergamo in Serie A against AC Monza on Monday. After the final whistle there was special praise from coach Gian Piero Gasperini.
The 17 million euro purchase of SK storm attacker Rasmus Höjlund was not a matter of course for Atalanta Bergamo either. The Italians only paid more for five players in their club history, top purchase Jeremie Boga only cost five million euros more than the Dane.
Accordingly, unsurprisingly, Atalanta threw the 19-year-old straight into the deep end. Höjlund made his debut against FC Torino and played 53 minutes after being substituted on early on. Against Monza he was promptly in the starting XI and scored to make it 1-0. The final 2:0 resulted from an own goal.
After the final whistle there was praise from Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini. “He (Höjlund, note) convinced me from the first training sessions, he has very good qualities for such a young lad. He’s very smart and I hope to help him grow,” Gasperini added DAZN. “He has a bright future ahead of him, hopefully he can improve further.”
After five matchdays, the black and blues are in first place in Serie A, they have won four games, and it was enough for a 1-1 draw against champions AC Milan. Next Sunday latecomer Cremonese guest with ÖFB-Export Emanuel Aiwu in Bergamo.
