FA Cup: Goalkeeper pees in hedge

Goalkeeper Connor Maseko unintentionally caused a strange novelty in the time-honored FA Cup. The keeper of ninth division Blackfield & Langley FC was unable to keep his head down in the first round of qualifying with league rivals Shepton Mallet FC – and peed in a hedge. The consequence: dismissal (76th).

“Sometimes it’s like this: if you have to, you have to,” said Blackfield’s co-team manager Conor McCarthy BBC. Maseko relieved himself well hidden from view in the bushes, he emphasized, so everyone was “quite shocked” by what he considered to be a difficult decision.

At least the club’s social media department reacted humorously. “See you on Tuesday evening,” she wrote, with a view to the decision game due after the 0-0 draw on Saturday, “hopefully there will be enough pee breaks along the way.” Opponent Shepton advertised in a tweet for a game sponsor – from the sanitary area.
