Borussia Mönchengladbach – 1. FSV Mainz 05 0: 1: Aaron with a dream free kick! Broke for decimated foals

Borussia Mönchengladbach conceded the first defeat under the new coach Daniel Farke. Mainz 05 climbs to fifth place thanks to the 1-0.

Daniel Farke stood petrified on the sidelines in the last few minutes, congratulated his opponent Bo Svensson after his first defeat as coach of Borussia Mönchengladbach – and let the fans cheer him up for the next game.

“Away win! Away win!” shouted the supporters after the 0:1 (0:0) against FSV Mainz 05. The next opponent, however, is surprise table leaders SC Freiburg. “It was unfortunate for us. Small things that decide football were not on our side,” said Bundesliga returnee Julian Weigl DAZN after the first bankruptcy of the season, with which the Gladbachers missed the best start since the glory days of Vogts and Heynckes.

Aaron Martin (55th) shot the guests to their third win of the season and fifth place with ten points. FSV sports director Martin Schmidt saw his team as “above all combative, willing and courageous”. Immediately before Mainz took the lead, Gladbach defender Ko Itakura saw the red card for an emergency brake. Borussia is therefore only ninth in the table with eight points – a win over Mainz would have meant the best gallop for the foals since the last championship season in 1976/77.
