1. FC Heidenheim has taken the lead in the 2nd Bundesliga for at least one night. The team coached by Frank Schmidt defeated Fortuna Düsseldorf 2-1 (1-0) in the chasing duel at the start of the seventh matchday. Newly promoted Eintracht Braunschweig ended their crisis in an impressive manner by beating 1. FC Nürnberg 4:2 (1:2).
An own goal by Matthias Zimmermann (23rd) gave FCH the lead, Tim Kleindienst (87th) scored the winning goal. Dusseldorf came to an interim equalizer through Dawid Kownacki (59th).
With 14 points, Heidenheim took first place from SC Paderborn (13), who, however, can pass again on Saturday. Düsseldorf is fifth with eleven points after the second defeat of the season.
While Braunschweig (four points) left last place in the table for at least one night with their first win of the season, Nuremberg slipped deeper into the crisis. After the fourth defeat of the season, the young team of coach Robert Klauß is twelfth (seven points).
Nuremberg makes two advances in Braunschweig
In a turbulent first half in front of 17,173 spectators in Braunschweig, 19-year-old Jens Castrop (10th) with his first second division goal and Switzerland’s Kwadwo Duah (29th) gave the guests from Franconia the lead twice.
Eintracht equalized through Fabio Kaufmann (13th) and veteran Anthony Ujah (44th). Immanuel Pherai (59th) and Kaufmann (62nd) managed the decisive double strike after the change.
