The wild scenes following Liverpool FC’s late winner in the game against Newcastle United may have repercussions. As the Daily Mail reported the FA have launched an investigation into a bottle thrown at the Liverpool bank.
After Fabio Carvalho’s goal to make it 2-1 in the eighth minute of stoppage time, the coaching staff of both teams clashed.
TV pictures showed a bottle being thrown from the Newcastle bench in the direction of the Liverpool coaching zone. The Reds are said to have provoked beforehand.
According to media reports, players are also said to have been involved in pack formation. Noisy Daily Mail Jürgen Klopp’s assistant Pep Lijnders and Liverpool players Joel Matip and Darwin Nuñez were involved in the clashes with Newcastle’s Jason Tindall, Graeme Jones and Fabian Schär.
Both Klopp and his opposite number Eddie Howe were questioned about the incidents at the press conference. Both said they hadn’t seen anything.
