Armed attack on Hamit Altintop and the Turkish federation

An armed attack was carried out on the building of the Turkish Football Association. According to data from milliyet two shots were fired at the TFF building in Riva. Former Bayern pro Hamit Altintop was also there at the time.

On Thursday evening, when the TFF Board of Directors was meeting, shots were fired at the building from the bank of the creek near the Riva facilities. The attack targeted the area where the meeting was to take place. There are no reports of injuries, but it was reported that seven bullets were fired at the building.

The perpetrators were able to flee in a car, the security forces are currently viewing the video material. The attack on the TFF building took place in the President’s office and in the boardroom on the lower floor. One of the projectiles probably just missed board members Ali Düsmez and Hamit Altintop or fell to the ground between them. Altintop became a football official after his career in the Turkish national team and has been on the TFF board of directors since 2019.

Both the presidential hall and the room in which the board of directors was located were shelled. “As soon as we heard the shots, we threw ourselves on the ground. My friends on the board thought I was wounded,” Altintop said in an interview milliyet: “I hope that the attackers will be found as soon as possible.”

“We estimate that there were 11 short-range shots. There are 11 empty shells. There are 5 hits on the building,” Interior Minister Süleymn Soylu said. “A large-scale investigation into the attack has been launched,” Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya wrote. on twitter. The Turkish national coach Stefan Kuntz also commented on the incident on Instagram. “Shocking news from my second home,” he wrote there: “I’m so glad everyone is healthy and I condemn these crimes in the strongest possible terms.”
