Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed rumors of Marco Asensio’s departure. Talking to the Spanish TV channel MOVISTAR+said the Italian: “I don’t know what’s happening. It’s pretty clear with Marco: I think he’s looking around to see if he can go.”
Ancelotti, who was named Europe’s coach of the year on Thursday, continued: “If he doesn’t leave, he’ll be 100 per cent a Real Madrid player from September 1.”
Only recently Asensio has been linked with Manchester United. According to this, an offer of 30 million euros is already being prepared by the Red Devils.
The Spanish winger’s contract expires in 2023, and the player has so far refused to extend his contract in Madrid. So if the royals still want to generate a transfer fee with Asensio, a departure this transfer summer would be obvious.
In 2015, the versatile right winger switched from Espanyol to Real for almost four million euros and initially spent a year on loan in Barcelona. He then won the Champions League three times with Blancos. However, Asensio has also been thrown back several times by injuries.
