SC Freiburg – VfL Bochum 1-0: Sport-Club trembles to victory

Fourth game, fourth defeat: VfL Bochum suffered the next setback in the Bundesliga after the bitter 7-0 loss to Bayern Munich. The team coached by Thomas Reis lost 0-1 (0-0) at the start of the fourth matchday after an open exchange of blows at SC Freiburg.

While Bochum stays bottom of the table, Freiburg jump to second place, at least for one night.

Vincenzo Grifo (48th) gave Freiburg the lead. Bochum’s Manuel Riemann had parried his penalty earlier in front of 32,800 spectators in the Europapark Stadium, but Grifo was successful in the second subsequent shot. Bochum’s final offensive was not rewarded with the equaliser. SC trainer Christian Streich then spoke of a victory “with a lot of noise”.

“It’s very annoying. We deserved a point on the performance. We played well, but what’s the point?” said Bochum’s Kevin Stöger DAZN: “If you go into the dressing room now, you see empty faces.”
