It was rumored for a long time, now, according to media reports, it should be fixed: Sturm Graz sells Rasmus Höjlund to Atalanta Bergamo for a record sum.
Actually, the SK Sturm attacker Rasmus Höjlund only wanted to sell in winter, as the media in Italy and Denmark unanimously report, but an agreement has now been reached: the 19-year-old is apparently moving to Atalanta Bergamo for 17 million euros.
With this, Sturm shattered all previous transfer records. This is held by Kelvin Yeboah, who switched to Genoa FC in winter 2022 for 6.5 million euros. Before that, the Styrians can only refer to Mario Haas, for whom Racing Straßburg paid three million euros in 2000.
Most recently, Sturm was unwilling to sell Höjlund. “There were always inquiries, but we blocked them,” said Sturm’s managing director Andreas Schicker after rumors about Bologna, Bruges and Newcastle Crown newspaper.
Höjlund only moved from FC Copenhagen to Graz in winter, as Yeboah’s successor, for 1.8 million euros and scored twelve goals in 21 games. According to the Danish medium, 2.7 million euros of the transfer fee now achieved Extra Bladet because of a transfer participation to Copenhagen.
