Former top pick Markelle Fultz misses much of Orlando Magic prep

Markelle Fultz will miss the Orlando Magic preseason. The guard broke his big toe on his left foot and is out indefinitely.

The Magic announced it in a statement. It’s unclear how long Fultz will be out, at least the former 2017 first pick doesn’t have to have surgery.

Fultz now wears a walking boot and should be treated conservatively. According to the team, the playmaker was injured while working out before returning to Orlando. The Magic will begin preparing for the new season on Tuesday.

For Fultz it is not the first injury. In the last two seasons, the shooting guard only played 26 games because he was recovering from a torn cruciate ligament. Previously, Fultz suffered from a nerve disorder in his shoulder, called Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, which is otherwise only known to baseball players.

Fultz played 18 games for Orlando last season, averaging 10.8 points and 5.5 assists.
